My Story

I am so grateful to have found the job of being a celebrant - it's such a privilege to play a part in one of the most important days in a couple's lives.

Having moved around a lot as a child (from Aberdeen, to Kenya, to London, to Manchester and then Bristol) I got used to adapting and facing lots of different challenges.

In 2009, my husband and I moved to Paris where we lived for 5 years, before falling in love with Portugal at a friend’s wedding. We were lucky enough to move here 11 years ago, where we’ve made a life in this amazing country with our 9 year old daughter. My husband and I have been married for nearly 22 years (so I do believe in my product!)

The challenge of living in different places, with different cultures, different languages and ways of approaching things has taught me so many things about patience, tolerance and the art of maintaining my slightly OCD organisational skills, whilst being always slightly out of my comfort zone. I believe that lends itself really well to helping and supporting couples who choose Portugal for their ceremony, whether it’s for a wedding, an elopement or vow renewal.

I know that it’s a leap of faith to choose another country for your momentous occasion. With my 9 years of experience creating and performing ceremonies for over 300 couples and working at innumerable venues with many wedding planners and suppliers, I’m a safe pair of hands.

I have a degree in Environmental Management and I’ve worked for; an NGO, a funding organisation as a project manager, as a fundraiser for two charities, an event planner, a business English teacher and as a speech & presentation coach. Now I’ve found the role of celebrant, my dream job, and I’m looking forward to many, many more years of celebrating love and life!
